Vandergrift Sportsmen’s Association, Inc. October 10, 2023
The monthly meeting was held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 7:00 PM, presided over by President Jim Waltenbaugh There were 20 members present. The meeting opened with the “Pledge of Allegiance.” The minutes from the October meeting were passed out to all members present. A motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Francis Gray and seconded by Frank Gray. The motion was passed by voice vote. The treasure’s report was passed out to all members present. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as read was made by Roy Huth and seconded by Frank Gray. The motion passed by voice vote.
OLD BUSINESS
Frank Gray reported that on October 24 and 25 Ferguson heating fixed the cold air return in the club house.
Frank Gray reported November 5th had 8 people for sight in day and November 12th had 13 people. Frank wanted to thank everyone for their help.
Neil Jankosky is working on mail chimp.
Dan Barber looked into a new website company and stated that their cost was $25.00 a month. Every add-on will be charged between $40.00 to $80.00.

NEW BUSINESS
Jim Waltenbaugh stated that Penn Renewables wanted to lease property from the club. Frank Gray made a motion to not lease the property and all members voted not to lease.
Dan Barber sent some leaves to the forestry service from our trees at the club to identify and they said they are Chinese chestnut.
Francis Gray was unsuccessful in getting West Penn Power to upgrade the clubs outside light. He is going to write a letter to the utility commission.
The club’s water wells will be tested by Keystone Consultants. They are doing this because they are drilling a Marcella’s well within 3,000 feet of our club’s property.
There will be an officer’s meeting held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 7:00 pm.

Larry Laurenti gave a report on the officers meeting. The trap range club house needs to be made ADA compliant. Neil Jankosky is checking on the cost to do this. The old club house demolish is on hold.

Jim stated the club will get $6.00 for any renewals on NRA memberships and will get $12.00 for any new member. He announced that there will be a NRA fund raiser on October 1, 2023. The cost is $75.00 per ticket. It will be held from 1:00 to 4:00. Jim can get tickets for anyone who wishes to attend.

A motion for Francis Gray to check into a light upgrade at the club house was made by Dan Barber and was seconded by Jeff Pope. The motion passed by voice vote.
Niel Jankosky gave update on the e-mail chimp. He has an account set up and has the emails from the club members.
Neil Jankosky gave update on the old club house demolition.
A motion to get the old club house demolished was made by Rich Catchpole and seconded by Bob Matteo. The motion passed by voice vote.
Jim Troiano stated that not all the grass is getting cut at the five stand area and the trap range.
Bob Matteo asked if he could take the two old target frames and get them rebuilt. The members approved it.
Larry Laurenti stated hunting season is getting ready to start and the club grounds are open to members only. Any tree stands or hunting blinds must be removed every day.

SECOND QUARTER NEWSLETTER
The parking lot and driveway were raked Feb. 15th 2023 during the nice weather we had.
03-15-23 We bought 150 gallons of fuel for the tractor from Export Fuel at $3.84/gal.
Frank and Larry bought 25 sheets of target board from Stanford Lumber 03-23-23
Larry Laurenti and Frank Gray painted the perimeter of each board.

The shotgun range clubhouse has been completed and the inspector wants a cement pad installed.

Rich Catchpole stated that there was a police officer shooting on the range before ten o’clock .
Larry Laurenti stated that there will be a hunter education class on June 3, 2023. Interested parties can sign up on the website.
There was a clean up day of the club grounds, on April 22, 2023. We had seven club members show up to help.
Larry Laurenti is being recognized, by the state, for his ten years of instructing hunter safety education classes.
Larry Laurenti suggested that there be a to do list posted at the club. If any member had some time, they could do something from the list.

March 14, 2023The monthly meeting was held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 7:00 PM, presided over by President Jim Waltenbaugh There were 18 members present. The meeting opened with the “Pledge of Allegiance.” The minutes from the February meeting were passed out to all members present. A motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Francis Gray, Sr and seconded by Steve Milcic. The motion was passed by voice vote. The treasure’s report was passed out to all members present. A motion to accept the treasure’s report as read was made by Frank Gray and seconded by Francis Gray, Sr. The motion passed by voice vote.

Steve reported on the trap club house renovation. The outside is finished. Next, will be the inside wiring, an inspection, and then the interior can be finished.

Jim Troiano reported a balance of $xxx. Weather permitting five stand will open the first week in April.
YOUTH DAY

Frank stated that he is going to start going over all inventory for youth day. Youth day is currently being planned for August 5, 2023.

MEMBERSHIP
Jim Lewis stated the club membership is full, and that there are 14 on the waiting list.
NEW BUSINESS
Bob Matteo showed the two new targets for the 100 yard and 200 yard ranges .
Jim Waltenbaugh stated Chris Coniglio wanted to use the club’s ranges when he was home on leave from the service. The membership felt that he can come in with a member and use the ranges and/or he can apply for his own membership.
Neil Jankosky stated that the club will be getting a monthly check from Crown Carrier for the cell tower rental.
Frank Gray stated that the club should send in the NRA money that was collected with the membership renewals.
Dan Barber stated that the club should set a work day. It is scheduled for April 22, 2023.
Bob Matteo stated that there will be outdoor day at the Westmoreland fair grounds on April 15, 2023.
Larry Laurenti stated that the club will hold its Hunter Education class on June 3, 2023.
50/50 RAFFLE
The 50/50 Raffle was won by Dale McMullen he donated his winnings $xx to the club.
