Vandergrift Sportsmen’s Association Inc.

The monthly meeting was held on Tuesday, March, , 2017, at 7:00 PM, presided over by President Jim Waltenbaugh. There were 23 members present. The meeting opened with the “Pledge of Allegiance”. The minutes from the February,  meeting were passed out to all members present.  A motion to accept the minutes as written was made by Larry Gamble and seconded by Jim Wigle. The motion was passed by a voice vote. The treasure’s report was passed out to all members present. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as written was made by Frank Gray and seconded by Bob Matteo. The motion was passed by a voice vote.


Breakfast will be held at the club house every other Wednesday starting at 9:00. Estimated cost per person is $3.00.  Members only.

Improvements to the trap club house needs more information to continue on.                                  

Repairs to  the trap house that throughs the birds has been made.

A New account has been hired to do the clubs taxes Mary Hartman.

Gun safe was purchased for the club.

Brian McCollim has volunteered to check out a new web site for the club.

Work on updating the by-law book is still going on.                                                                                                                      


The crack in the corner of the club house will be repaired by Tony Leonzio when the weather gets warmer

The back stop on the  ranges will  changed when weather is nicer.    


Larry Laurenti will be trying to get a committee together to help with the archery range improvements.


Steve Milcic reported 49 lines shot, bringing in $196.00.

Expenses trap house repairs $595.00  

That leaves trap with an ending balance of $3,777.00.

5-Stand Report

Jim Troiano  reported 5-stand balance of $1,370.04.

5- stand will reopen April 5, 2017.

Youth Day

Frank Gray stated the Caterer has been hired five star catering.

The Club will receive a $300.00 grant from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

All station for youth are filled.

Jim Lewis stated the club will receive $12.00 for any new NRA member signed up and $6.00 for any renewal to the NRA the money go to youth day.

Jim Lewis also had NRA raffle tickets for at a cost of $20.00.   


A motion to let Huntley & Huntley  do gas testing on 18.4 acres of club property  was made by Butch Screngost and seconded by Don Kaufman The motion passed by voice vote.

A motion to have boy scout troop 208 clean up the club house grounds was made by Jim Wigle and seconded by Deryl Rowe.  The motion passed by voice vote.

The Key and combination to the new gun safe will be held by the clubs president.

There are several trees that need cut or trimmed on combat range and trap range.

A work day at club will be planed in up coming meetings.

Larry Laurenti will put a list of things that need to be done on the clubs bulletin board if any one has time to do any thing please just cross it off .

A motion to just have the new sign at the club entrance was made by Jim Troiano and seconded byBob Matteo. The motion passed by voice vote.

A motion to purchase new shelves for storage in the old club house was made by Frank Gray and seconded by Larry Gamble. the motion passed by voice vote.

A cooler was donated to the club by Francis L. Gray SR.   


The Club has 700 renewal adult members and 21 junior members. There are 26 on a waiting list.

The 50/50 Raffle was won by Dennis Barger . He won $11.50 .

A Knife set donated by Daryl Rowe was won by James Chikar.

A list of outstanding bills was presented. A motion to pay the bills was made by Larry Gamble and seconded by James Chikar. The motion was passed by a voice vote.


A motion for adjournment was made by Steve Milcic and seconded by Francis L. Gray Sr. The motion was passed by a voice vote.
